Recommended Methods

Nanidroid can download .nar files from the internet directly.  Please use the following methods to submit .nar file URL to Nanidroid.

1. Type .nar download URL into Nanidroid
   1. In Nanidroidapp, tap on screen to bring up button bar
   2. click “List Ghosts”
   3. click “More Ghosts”
   4. click “Enter URL”
   5. 1. URL must start with http(s):// and end with .nar or .zip
   6. click Download to begin download
   7. Once .Nar file download complete, a notification will be shown
   8. Click on notification to start installing new ghost
2. Download .nar file to your PC and copy to your Android phone
   1. Create a folder named “nar” on your Android phone’s SD card
   2. Copy .nar file to nar folder on your android phone’s SD card
   3. Disconnect android phone before launching Nanidroidapp
   4. In Nanidroid app, tap on screen to bring up button bar
   5. Click “List Ghosts”
   6. Click “More Ghosts”
   7. Click “Install from SD card”
   8. If there is only one .nar file in “nar” folder, installation begins immediately
   9. If there are multiple .nar files in “nar” folder, a list will be shown 
   10. select one file and click Install to begin installation
3. Use Barcode Scanner
   1. Install barcode scanner such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.zxing.client.android
   2. create QR code containing URL to download .nar file
      1. QR code can be generated at http://zxing.appspot.com/generator
      2. select “URL” from contents drop down list
      3. paste URL and click “Generate” button
   3. scan QR code, select “Open in Web browser”
      
   4. select Nanidroidfrom app list
      
   5. Nanidroidapp will open and start downloading .nar file in background
   6. Once .nar file download complete, a notification will be shown
      
   7. Click on notification to start installing new ghost
4. Use Google’s Chrome to Phone extension
   1. Install Chrome to Phone extension on Chrome browser on your PC from Chrome web store at https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/oadboiipflhobonjjffjbfekfjcgkhco
   2. Install Chrome to Phone app on your Android phone at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.chrometophone
   3. On PC, in Chrome browser, right click on .nar file download link
   4. select “send to phone”
   5. on Android phone, select URL sent by Chrome to Phone
   6. select Nanidroidfrom app list to open URL
   7. Nanidroidapp will open and start downloading .nar file in background
   8. Once .nar file download complete, a notification will be shown
   9. Click on notification to start installing new ghost

Some Failed Methods

This section lists some methods that were tried during development but cannot be used to install ghost to Nanidroid.

• Attaching .nar file in e-mail does not work because most e-mail client does not understand how to deal with .nar file as attachment.
• E-mail URL of nar to your account and open link on the phone.  This will fail because Android default browser does not download .nar files correctly
